Alissa Flores: Turning Back the Pages

Hey everyone! My name is Alissa Flores. I am a senior studying journalism and public relations at Southern Adventist University. My passion is soccer, but some of my hobbies include writing, working out, traveling, and media.

I am originally from upstate New York, but I moved to Crossville, Tennessee, when I was 13. Despite my initial lack of enthusiasm regarding my move to the south, Tennessee, with its rolling hills and charm, slowly grew on me. Within the past two years, I came to Collegedale to finish up my studies, and in that time I have grown to appreciate the tight-knit and diverse college community.

I’m excited about the interactive journalism project on the growth of Collegedale because I know the team working on it is immensely talented and creative. There are many different angles and approaches to this project, as well as creative tools that will bring this project to life. Seeing why Collegedale has seen abundant growth in the last few years, and predictions of what is to come, will be enlightening.

Personally, I look forward to meeting well informed individuals who will help the interactive journalism students bring this idea to fruition. I also look forward to digging into Collegedale’s history, and interviewing long-time members of the community to see from their eyes, how Collegedale has grown and evolved.
